Mate...

So on Sunday I was relieved to discover that the girl I busted in the the shower was in fact my flatmate's sixteen year old daughter, and not something more sinister.

Checked out potential new flat in Ponsonby, but landlord is asking millions of dollars for a flat that while nice, has no parking. I put in a rental offer for it, with the promise of being good tenants so now have to wait and see...

Went to the 48 Hour Project on Sunday. Was a great night, with some fantastic films being shown. And some that I think maybe we could have rivalled if not for our tech dramas. But I think the best film won on the night.

Was a fun if big weekend, with not enough essay getting done. Went to the bNet Music Awards with Hannah on Friday, which turned into a big night. Work on Saturday was something of a write off- leading to that other fun weekend condition, working on Sunday. Saturday night went to a couple of parties and then all back to ET's for Star Wars watching (the highlight). Also spent a good portion of the night trying to find the big ass spider in my car, which Liam failed to kill on discovery. Am now having to explain to people that am not huge wuss, and spider actually is huge and possibly poisonous. Sunday itself was nice, with Goose making us a lovely roast chicken, which I am going to try and rival with a roast-off at Hannahs next Sunday, Chicken VS Lamb. I'll be propping up the chicken side.

Whew!

Screened our film last night, as part of the 48 Hour Project at the Civic Theatre, Auckland's best cinema. It's beautiful place, a fully restored old theatre complete with plaster lions and a projected sky which has 'stars' peeking through the ceiling as you watch the screen. Lovely.

So while I was stoked that our film would screen there, along with the 129 others from the Auckland heats, I was a little nervous about it to, having had all the trouble that we did with our film. Plus, my parents were coming, and our film was a little ribald.

But all went well. Our team had a good turnout and we managed to be the loudest (showed we were having the most fun, or maybe just the most beer). And our film was a lot better than I remembered. Maybe it was the Civic that made the difference, as last time I watched it, I was in the edit suite next door to my office. Anyway, it looked quite good, it got some laughs and it even made sense (our big worry). I couldn't help but wish that we had had the extra five hours of edit time that we missed out on. But next year.

Still crossing fingers to hear about potential new flat. Big crossed fingers. Fleet Street charmingly has a new magical mystery flatmate moving in today who I haven't even met. So that's obviously going to go swimmingly.

Another 48 Hours

Wow. Another two weeks have passed. Reading over my blog, a lot of time seems to be focussed on how fast time is passing. And this year is just shooting by. But maybe this focus is adding to it. I shouldn't think about it so much.

So it actually didn't take long, I am sick of new flat. Not sick of it entirely, but my new attitude to flatting is Why Bother? One of the flatmates is too moody- move out! Bathroom still not fixed- move out! Meat-eating frowned upon- move out! So I am. Aiming for Ponsonby this time. And hopefully a nice grown up two bedroom. Has been fun living in Eden Tce with the guys, but it's not a long term move. Apart from anything else the flat is COLD, and Winter is totally rearing it's ugly head.

48 Hour Film Project was last weekend. Was three parts fun, one part nightmare. I picked out the Superhero genre and stayed up Friday night writing, which was great. Future flatmate Nick stayed up with me and totally kept me going with three parts wine, one part Red Bull (we drank a case!). Saturday we shot all day, after sorting costumes, set and makeup in the morning. By 11pm Hannah, Q, Will and I were at her father's 51st which was great. Brent on fantastic form as usual. Sunday I got into work at 12, to find that editing had only just begun as we had lost all of our digitzed footage. So we handed in a super rough film, nothing like it could have been, but we got it in on time. Which was some feat. Lots of teams didn't. And we have tons of plans for next year. But most importantly it was fun. I don't think I've laughed so much in ages.

Heard from my godfather in Boston for the first time ever this week which was great. Am going to get in touch with him, and may even go visit. Knowing my other godparent so well (Jonette), and having had her be such a big part of my life, I'm curious to meet Chuck and see why my parents picked him as well. I suppose I could just ask them, but I also kind of want to got to Boston...

Work fine, although may be taking over new job soon. Which I'm not too sure about. Uni is on the back burner a little right now which is dangerous. This weekend should be essay city but instead I'm being dragged up to ET's bach...yep dragged. He he.

Kiss and Make Up

Last night was the final Kiss and Make Up Club night. Held at Eden's Bar on K'Rd, the night has been running for the last two years. While I didn't make it along every Thursday (seven o'clock starts and all), it's been a favourite night of mine and I'm sad to see it end. Last night was especially good with lots of dancing and drinking. So sad, but I'm sure something else fun will crop up soon.

We also found out that our team got into the 48 Hour Film project which means that next weekend we will have 48 hours to make an eight minute short. It's going to be madness...

Static

So I haven't posted in ages. Due to a whole bunch of stuff. These last few weeks have been mad, with all sorts of unexpected happenings, including losing my hard drive, our flat busting a water main, a charming man driving into my car...anyway horror stories are boring.

John, if you read this by any chance, you are very slack. Please email me, your old address doesn't seem to be working.

Things seem to be back on the straight and narrow a little now. Except for uni stuff which is about to go crazy I feel. It's also getting very Wintery here, which is a great impetus to watch DVD's and do little else. But there's just so much on right now. It's exhausting, but in the best way.

Okay, John, hope you got that loud and clear anyway...more soon.
